Late Medieval Re-Enactment

Arundel a success!

The Arundel Siege, held over the second May bank holiday weekend of each year was a resounding success. The castle staff and re-enactors all rally closely together to put on a show that brings a real taste of history as a simulated siege of the castle is undertaken.

Under heavy cannon fire the English defenders valiantly saw off the French invasion and the castle is safe for another year.

We next return to Arundel over the August bank holiday for History in Action, a multi-period that has evolved to showcase history from the Roman era through to the 18th century.

Happy New Year and our first training session of 2017

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all!

2017 is shaping up nicely with a number of superb events on the books already. We are looking forward to returning to Arundel for more shows this year: the castle and resident group, Raven Tor, host fantastic weekends for re-enactors and members of the public alike.

More immediately our first practice session is on January 8th in Broughton Gifford village hall, near Chippenham. Please contact us if you want to come along. New, old and prospective members are most welcome.

Hope to see you there.

Off to Arundel we go

This coming May bank holiday weekend WMA will be at The Siege of Arundel Castle. Arundel is an incredible place with the castle representing nearly 1000 years of evolution in fortified defences. We will have a large authentic living history display present and will be camping in medieval tents as well each night.

Our medieval chef extraordinaire of the Cheney Household will be cooking on a medieval range where you can see and smell the delights of medieval cookery.

Watch as our members take to the field in support of Raven Tor, clashing in fierce hand to hand combat, while our archers let loose across the battlefield.

It looks set to be a fantastic bank holiday weekend!
